Amy Linnéa Deasismont (born 15 April 1992), known for a time as Amy Diamond, is a Swedish actress, screenwriter, director, and singer.

She became famous for her song "What's in It for Me". This song was a big hit in 2005 across Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland. It was even the most-played song in Poland that year. Amy has released six studio albums.

Some of her most popular songs include "What's in It For Me", "Welcome To The City", "Don't Cry Your Heart Out", "It Can Only Get Better", "Stay My Baby", "Is It Love", "Up" and "Thank You". She is also the youngest person in Sweden to release a "greatest hits" album.

As an actress, she appeared in the 2015 movie My Skinny Sister. She is also known for her roles in TV shows like The Chosen Ones, Thunder in My Heart, Ligga, and Knutby.

Amy Deasismont's Early Life and Talents

Amy Linnéa Deasismont was born in Norrköping, Sweden. Her father is English and her mother is Swedish. When she was ten months old, her family moved to the UK. They moved back to Sweden when she was four-and-a-half, settling in Jönköping. Amy has an older sister, Danielle, three younger sisters (Lisa, Holly, and Lily), and a younger brother, Charlie.

Amy started figure skating at age six and won many gold medals. She practiced six times a week before she began her singing career. She also attended a dance and theater school called Blandgodis. This gave her experience performing in public and on TV. She even had a small TV role in the show De drabbade.

Amy Deasismont's Music Journey

Amy Deasismont has loved singing since she was just one year old. One of her first public performances was at age seven on a talent show called Småstjärnorna. She dressed up as Belinda Carlisle and sang "Heaven is a Place on Earth", finishing third. In 2004, she joined other talent shows like Minimelodifestivalen and Super Troupers, winning most of them.

On Mix Megapol Summer Idol, she won the top prize: recording a song in a real studio. While recording, she was offered a professional recording contract. Soon after, she recorded her first song, "What's in It for Me". One of the songwriters said she sang it perfectly. The song was recorded in just 90 minutes and released in February 2005.

Becoming a Successful Singer

"What's in It for Me" became a huge success. Some TV stations in Sweden didn't want to show the music video. They thought Amy was too young for the song's theme about romantic relationships. However, Amy saw the song as being about friendships. The song was played a lot on the radio, and she went on tour with Elin Lanto. "What's in It for Me" reached number one on the Swedish singles chart and became a platinum hit.

She soon appeared on Swedish TV4, using her artist name "Amy Diamond" for the first time. She sang her single and Alicia Keys' song "If I Ain't Got You" with a live band. The band included a drummer, guitarist, bassist, and keyboard player.

Because her first song was so popular, a full album was created. This Is Me Now was released in May 2005. The album sold over 150,000 copies, which was three times the amount needed for a gold record in Sweden. This success led to many TV appearances, including on the chart show Trackslistan. By the end of 2005, she had performed live on more than 20 TV shows. She also had a concert tour in Sweden during the summer.

Even though Amy's fans were often school children, her album was not just for kids. The music style of This Is Me Now was mostly happy pop music with synthesizer sounds. It also included the song "Tomorrow" from the musical Annie. The songs were made by a production team from Stockholm called TEN Production.

Amy is known for being a talented live singer and does not lip sync during her performances. Her first album included a live version of Alicia Keys' "If I Ain't Got You", which was described as "sweet and impressive". She reached the finals in Super Troupers by singing Shakira's "Underneath Your Clothes" when she was 12. Reviewers praised her voice as "fine and secure".

Amy Diamond's International Success

Amy signed a deal with Warner in July 2005 to share her album around the world. She started performing with a background track and dancers instead of a live band. Her album became popular in other Nordic countries and Poland. "What's in It for Me" was played often on the radio. It was one of the most played songs in Finland and Poland in 2005.

More songs from the album, "Welcome to the City" and "Champion", were released. A special version of the album was made for Central Europe. It had two new songs that later appeared on her next album, Still Me Still Now. Amy went on a promotional tour across Central Europe in late 2005. Her record deal allowed her whole family to travel with her when she performed abroad. She appeared on TV in Germany, Norway, Denmark, Poland, Lithuania, and the Netherlands.

Amy was nominated for many awards in 2005. At 13, she was the youngest person ever to win the Nordic Music Award for "What's in It for Me". She was also the youngest artist to win two NRJ Radio Awards and be nominated for the Swedish Grammy Awards. At the Grammys, she won Best Swedish Female Artist, Song of the Year, and Newcomer of the Year. She also received a Nickelodeon award for Hit of the Year. In 2010, she won another award for best Swedish music/group at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards.

Second Album: Still Me Still Now

Amy started recording her second album in February 2006. Her producers sent her songs, and she chose which ones she wanted to include. The album was recorded over four weekends, with two to three songs done each weekend.

The album Still Me Still Now was released in May 2006. The first song from it, "Don't Cry Your Heart Out", came out a few weeks before the album.

Two days before the album's release, Amy was interviewed on a morning talk show. The host surprised her by giving her a gold record for the album. It had already sold enough copies from pre-orders alone to be certified gold! "Don't Cry Your Heart Out" was a radio hit in Sweden.

Still Me Still Now had a similar style to her first album, mostly light-pop music. "Don't Cry Your Heart Out" was a catchy pop song. Some songs like "Diamonds" and "No Regrets" sounded like musicals. Reviewers praised Amy's voice.

In mid-2006, Amy joined the Diggiloo tour, where she sang many songs, including Edith Piaf's "Non, je ne regrette rien". While Still Me Still Now wasn't as popular outside Sweden as her first album, it was still a big hit in her home country. She also performed other concerts. Readers of the newspaper Aftonbladet voted her the 2006 Summer Tour Queen. She released two more songs in late 2006, "Big Guns" and "It Can Only Get Better". She continued to appear on TV shows like Sommarkrysset and Go'kväll. In January 2007, she started a fan club that published a magazine called Amy Diamond Fanzine.

The first song from the album, "Is It Love?", was released on 26 September 2007. She performed the song on TV shows and won "Best Female Artist" at the Nickelodeon Kids Choice Awards. The album came out on 28 November 2007. Her second song from the album, "Stay My Baby", was written by Max Martin and Tommy Tysper.

Amy entered Melodifestivalen in February 2008. This is the Swedish competition to choose a song for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her song was called "Thank You", and it placed 8th in the final round. The song was later added to a new version of her album, called Music in Motion – Gold Edition. Amy received another gold record for this album.

Christmas Album: En Helt Ny Jul

On 19 November 2008, Amy released a Christmas album called En Helt Ny Jul ("A Brand New Christmas"). It featured traditional Swedish Christmas carols. The album was described as a classic Christmas style with a touch of pop. This was her first album sung completely in Swedish, and it also went Gold.

Melodifestivalen 2009 and Fifth Album

In December 2008, it was confirmed that Amy would compete in Melodifestivalen 2009 again. Her song was "It's My Life", an electro-pop song. On 14 February 2009, she competed in the semi-final. She was almost a finalist but lost to another group. She also received an international jury's wildcard nomination. On 7 March, she took part in a "second chance" round but did not reach the final.

Her fifth album, Swings and Roundabouts, was released in Scandinavia on 21 October. It included the songs "It's My Life", "Up", "Brand New Day", and "Bittersweet". This album also reached Gold status.

Amy was one of seven celebrity choir leaders in the TV show Körslaget ("Clash of the Choirs"). She led a choir team from her hometown of Jönköping.

From December 2009 to March 2010, she starred as Alice in Alice in Wonderland at a theater in Stockholm. She also provided the Swedish voice for the film Princess Lillifee, which premiered in Swedish cinemas on 10 September 2010. She sang a few songs in the movie too.

Greatest Hits Album

In spring 2010, Amy's music group announced a greatest hits album. The album included twenty songs from her previous four years, plus four new songs. These new songs included covers of "True Colors" by Cyndi Lauper, "Only You" by Yazoo, and "Perfect" by Fairground Attraction. The album was released on 29 October 2010. It was confirmed that she was the youngest Swedish artist to release a greatest hits album.

The first new song released from the album was "Only You" on 24 September 2010.

On 16 October 2010, Amy Deasismont and Mikael Rickfors sang a duet version of "True Colors" on the Swedish TV show Dansfeber.

On 2 November 2010, she performed "Only You" and "True Colors" live. The same day, she performed an acoustic version of "What's in It for Me" on a Swedish radio show.

New Music and Direction

At the end of 2012, Amy started working on new music. For the first time, she wrote most of the songs herself. Her new song "Your Love" was released on 16 October 2013. Amy and George Nakas were the composers.

In May 2016, Amy released a new song called "One" under her real name, Amy Deasismont. In August, she released her next song "Forgive". She has since released a third song called "This is How We Party".

Amy Deasismont's Life Beyond Music

Amy Deasismont kept her private life separate from her singing career. She chose the stage name Amy Diamond when she released her first song, "What's in It for Me". She said she picked "Diamond" because it's her birthstone.

When Amy was a child, she rarely missed school, even with her music career. She said that promotional jobs were mostly on weekends. If she had gigs during the week, she would do her schoolwork as homework. She mentioned that math, PE (physical education), and sewing were her favorite subjects. She felt her education was important in case music didn't work out or if she wanted to do something else. She said she wanted to sing as long as it was fun. Her manager-father handled the business side, and her parents supported her career.

In 2006, Amy received requests for modeling and TV work in addition to music. She appeared in a catalog for Ellos and did promotional work for Statoil and the sports store Stadium. In December, she played an ice princess in Lassemajas detektivbyrå, a Swedish Christmas TV series. This show allowed her to show off her figure skating skills. She was also the Swedish spokesperson for the Junior Eurovision Song Contest that year.

In May 2008, a jewelry maker launched a product called "Amy's Diamond". It was a silver piece with a diamond and Amy's autograph on the back. She also sang a song called "Connected" for the Barbie movie "Barbie and the Diamond Castle".

In summer 2010, she hosted the second season of the SVT program Bulldogg. This show allowed kids to spend time with a dog if their parents didn't want pets at home. The show premiered on 16 January 2011. In spring 2011, Amy recorded the third season of Bulldogg.
