The Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was the fourth time this exciting music competition happened. It was a special event for young singers aged 8 to 15 years old. The show was broadcast live from Bucharest, Romania, on December 2, 2006.

This was the second time the contest was held in a country's capital city. The Romanian TV channel, Romanian Television (TVR), worked with the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) to organize it. TVR won the chance to host the event, beating out the Netherlands. Croatia also wanted to host this contest.

What Happened at the Contest?

Fifteen countries took part in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006. Each country had a young singer or group perform an original song. The goal was to win the most points from other countries.

The winner of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2006 was Russia. The Tolmachevy Twins sang a song called "Vesenniy Jazz" (which means "Spring Jazz"). They earned a total of 154 points.

The second place went to Belarus with the song "Noviy den" (New day), sung by Andrey Kunets. They scored 129 points. Sweden came in third place with 116 points, performed by Molly Sandén.

Here's a quick look at the top countries:

Place Country Artist Song Points
1  Russia Tolmachevy Twins "Vesenniy Jazz" 154
2  Belarus Andrey Kunets "Noviy den" 129
3  Sweden Molly Sandén "Det finaste någon kan få" 116

How Countries Voted

In the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, each country gives points to their favorite songs. They award 1 to 8 points, then 10 points, and finally 12 points to their top 10 songs. The song that gets 12 points is the favorite of that country.

At the start of voting, every country automatically received 12 points. This rule makes sure that no country ends up with zero points.

Countries That Got 12 Points

Getting 12 points is a big deal because it means a country was someone else's favorite! Here's who gave 12 points to whom:

Who Were the Commentators?

Commentators are people who talk about the show for their country's TV audience. They explain what's happening and share their thoughts on the performances.

Who Announced the Votes?

Spokespersons are the people who announce their country's points during the live show. They usually appear on screen from their home country.
