Amy Victoria Wadge (born 22 December 1975) is an English singer and songwriter. She is well-known for writing songs for herself and other famous artists. Amy co-wrote the hit song "Thinking Out Loud" with Ed Sheeran. For this song, she won a Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 2016.

Early Life and Musical Beginnings
Amy Wadge grew up in Backwell, a small village near Bristol, England. Her dad loved music, and this greatly influenced her. She listened to artists like Elton John, Joni Mitchell, and James Taylor.
Amy started writing her own songs when she was just 9 years old. She used the family piano to create her first tunes. At age 11, her parents bought her a guitar from a junk shop. She taught herself to play by listening to Tracy Chapman's first album. This is when she discovered how much she loved the guitar.
Even while still in school, Amy often performed in Bristol. When she was 14, she signed her first record deal with her band, Two uv a Mind. She released her first single at the age of 16.
A Career in Music
Writing Songs for Others
Amy Wadge writes many songs for other musicians. She has worked a lot with Ed Sheeran. They wrote several songs together. Ed Sheeran even named his 2010 music collection Songs I Wrote with Amy. One of their songs was added to the special edition of Ed's album +.
In 2014, Amy and Ed continued to work together. They wrote the popular song "Thinking Out Loud". This song was featured on Ed's album x.
Amy has also written songs with Lewis Watson and Shannon Saunders. In 2018, she wrote and performed songs for the TV show Keeping Faith on BBC Wales. She also wrote for the second series in 2019. Amy also helped write "Consequences" for Camila Cabello's first album, Camila.
In 2019, Amy gave three songs to Bonnie Tyler for her album Between the Earth and the Stars. In 2021, she co-wrote "All of My Friends" for the Delta Goodrem album Bridge Over Troubled Dreams.
A big moment came in 2022. Amy co-wrote "Space Man" with Sam Ryder. This song was the UK's entry for the Eurovision Song Contest.
Performing Her Own Music
After moving to Wales, Amy studied at the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama. She started performing at open mic nights in Cardiff. Soon, she gained many fans and good reviews. Famous producers like Greg Haver helped her record her first mini-album, The Famous Hour. This album brought her more attention. She also performed at the launch party for BBC 6 Music.
In 2002, Amy won "Best Female Solo Act" at the Welsh Music Awards. She won this award again in 2003. In 2003, she toured Australia with the Welsh Rugby Team. She sang her song "Adre Nôl" during the Rugby World Cup.
Her first full album, WOJ, came out in 2004. It received great reviews. In June 2004, she performed at London's Royal Albert Hall. She shared the stage with famous musicians like Jeff Beck.
In 2006, Amy released her second album, No Sudden Moves. Her third album, Bump, came out in 2008. She recorded Bump in just two days while she was eight months pregnant.
In 2009, Amy released her single "Hold Me." She also released a Welsh version, "Dal Fi." Part of the money from the Welsh song went to a Welsh nursery school organization called Mudiad Meithrin.
From 2010 to 2011, Amy Wadge and Pete Riley released a CD called Rivers Apart. They also released two live DVDs and toured together.
Personal Life
Amy Wadge is married to actor Alun ap Brinley. They live near Pontypridd, in Wales.
