Chubb's Corners: A Historic Hamlet

Chubb's Corners was a small village located right on the border between Putnam Township and Marion Township. It had a post office from 1849 until 1894, which was a long time ago!

Main Roads and Travel

The state highway M-36 runs through Putnam Township. It passes through Pinckney and can take you about 11 miles east to U.S. Route 23 near Whitmore Lake. If you head northwest, M-36 goes about 31 miles to Mason.

Putnam Township covers a total area of about 95.2 square kilometers (about 36.7 square miles). Most of this area, about 88.3 square kilometers (34.1 square miles), is land. The rest, about 3.9 square kilometers (1.5 square miles), is water.

The township has many small streams that flow into Honey Creek. These waters are all part of the Huron River watershed, which eventually flows into Lake Erie.
