Andreja Pejić (born 28 August 1991) is a famous Australian model and actress. She is known for being one of the most recognized transgender models in the world. She shared publicly that she is a trans woman in 2013.

Early Life and Moving to Australia

Andreja Pejić was born in 1991 in a city called Tuzla. This city was part of Yugoslavia, which is now Bosnia and Herzegovina. She has an older brother named Igor. Her parents divorced when she was very young.

During the Bosnian War, Andreja, her brother, mother, and grandmother had to leave their home. They found safety in a refugee camp in Serbia. Later, they settled in a village nearby.

After the 1999 NATO bombing of Yugoslavia, her mother decided it was safer to move to Australia. In 2000, when Andreja was eight years old, her family moved to Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They went there as political refugees, seeking a new, safe home.

While she was in high school at University High School, Melbourne, Andreja was known for being a very smart student.

Career as a Model and Actress

Andreja Pejić started her modeling career just before she turned 17. She was discovered while working at a McDonald's restaurant. She has also mentioned being scouted at a swimming pool in Melbourne.
