Playing career 2006–2021

Andrew Ebbett (born January 2, 1983) is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He played as a centre. After his playing career, he became a general manager for SC Bern.

Andrew Ebbett also played for Team Canada. He competed in the 2016 and 2017 Spengler Cup. He also won a bronze medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics.

Playing Career

Andrew Ebbett played college hockey at the University of Michigan. He was the captain of his team in his final year. He was not chosen in the NHL draft. However, the Ottawa Senators signed him as a free agent in 2006. He started his professional career with the Binghamton Senators in the AHL.

The Anaheim Ducks signed Ebbett in 2007. He played his first three NHL games with the Ducks in the 2007–08 season. The Ducks signed him again for two more years.

In the 2008–09 season, Ebbett started with the Iowa Chops. This team was an affiliate, or partner team, of the Ducks. He was called up to the NHL after 28 games. He scored his first NHL goal on his 26th birthday, January 2, 2009. He helped the Ducks reach the second round of the playoffs. He even scored his first Stanley Cup playoff goal.

Ebbett played for many NHL teams. The Chicago Blackhawks picked him up in October 2009. Then the Minnesota Wild got him in November 2009. He quickly scored a goal in his first game with the Wild. He stayed with Minnesota for the rest of that season.

In 2010, Ebbett joined the Phoenix Coyotes. In 2011, he signed with the Vancouver Canucks. He signed another contract with the Canucks in 2012. This was a "two-way" contract. It meant he would get paid differently depending on if he played in the NHL or the AHL.

In 2013, Ebbett signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins. He played for both the Penguins and their AHL team.

After his time in the NHL, Ebbett moved to Switzerland. He signed with SC Bern in 2015. He helped Bern win the Swiss championship in 2016. He was injured in October 2015 and was out for three months. In December 2016, he won the Spengler Cup with Team Canada. He was named one of the best players in that tournament. He won his second Swiss Championship with Bern in the 2016–17 season. He won his third Swiss Championship in 2019. Ebbett left SC Bern in March 2020.

In February 2021, Ebbett played for EHC Red Bull München in Germany. He officially retired from playing professional hockey at the end of that season.

Executive Career

On May 26, 2021, Andrew Ebbett became the general manager of his former team, SC Bern. As a general manager, he helps manage the team's players and operations.

Andrew Ebbett played for Team Canada in international tournaments. He played in the 2016 and 2017 Spengler Cup. The Spengler Cup is an annual ice hockey tournament held in Switzerland.

During the 2017–18 season, Ebbett was chosen to play for Canada at the 2018 Winter Olympics. This big event took place in Pyeongchang, South Korea. He was named an alternate captain for the team. He helped Canada win a bronze medal in ice hockey.
