Andrew Shim (born 18 August 1983) is an actor who was born in America but grew up in Britain. He is most famous for his roles in films and TV shows made by Shane Meadows, especially the This Is England series. Even though he is a citizen of the United States, he has lived in Britain since 1989.

Early Life and First Steps in Acting

Andrew Shim was born in Miami, Florida, in the United States. His mother is African-American and his father is Chinese. When Andrew was six years old, his family moved from the United States to England in 1989.

He started attending the Nottingham's Central Junior Television Workshop when he was 14. His sister, Shauna Shim, was already there. Andrew wasn't very keen at first, but he joined with his grandmother's encouragement. He was almost ready to leave when he got an audition for a local film project. This film was going to be directed by Shane Meadows. After several callbacks, Andrew was chosen to play the main character in the movie A Room for Romeo Brass.

Andrew Shim's Acting Career

Since his first big role as Romeo in A Room for Romeo Brass, Andrew Shim has appeared in many other films and TV shows. He has worked with director Shane Meadows many times. These include the movies Once Upon a Time in the Midlands (2002), Dead Man's Shoes (2004), and This Is England (2006).

He also starred in the TV series that followed This Is England, such as This Is England '86 (2010), This Is England '88 (2011), and This Is England '90 (2015). Andrew also appeared in a short film called "The Stairwell" in 2005.

Besides these roles, Andrew Shim has been in several advertisements. He played a salesman in a commercial for Act On CO₂. He also appeared in an Orange Mobile advert that was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa. He played Jamie in the British prison film Screwed (2011) and the character Sam in Airborne, which starred Mark Hamill.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside of acting, Andrew Shim loves sports cars and motorcycles. He has also worked for an IT software company. He enjoys buying and selling used vehicles. He once said that his dream car would be a black Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster.

Andrew Shim is also an amateur mixed martial artist. He competes in the featherweight division and trains with Jim Wallhead. He has also taken part in some motorcycle races.
