Andrew Shim (born August 18, 1983) is an actor from the United States who is also a British citizen. He is most famous for his roles in movies and TV shows made by Shane Meadows, especially the This Is England series (2006–2015). Even though he was born in the United States, he has lived most of his life in Britain since 1989.

Early Life

Andrew Shim was born in Miami, Florida, United States. His mother is African-American and his father is Chinese. This means he has both African-American and Chinese family backgrounds.

When Andrew was six years old, his family moved from the United States to England in 1989. At 14, he started attending the Nottingham's Central Junior Television Workshop. His sister, Shauna Shim, was already there. Andrew wasn't very keen at first, but he joined with his grandmother. He was almost ready to leave when he got an audition for a local film. This film was going to be directed by Shane Meadows. After many tryouts, he was chosen to play the main character, Romeo, in the movie A Room for Romeo Brass.

Acting Career

After playing Romeo in A Room for Romeo Brass, Andrew Shim continued to work with Shane Meadows. He appeared in other Meadows' films like Once Upon a Time in the Midlands (2002) and Dead Man's Shoes (2004).

He also starred in This Is England (2006). This movie later became a popular TV series. Andrew played the same character, Milky, in the spin-off TV shows: This Is England '86 (2010), This Is England '88 (2011), and This Is England '90 (2015). He was also in a short film called "The Stairwell" in 2005.

Besides movies and TV shows, Andrew Shim has been in several commercials. He played a salesperson in an Act On CO₂ advertisement. He also appeared in an Orange Mobile ad that was filmed in Cape Town, South Africa. In 2011, he played Jamie in the British prison film Screwed. He also played Sam in Airborne, which starred Mark Hamill.

Hobbies and Interests

Outside of acting, Andrew Shim loves sports cars and motorcycles. He has also worked for an IT software company. He enjoys buying and selling used vehicles. He once said that his dream car would be a black Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster.

Andrew is also an amateur mixed martial artist. He competes in the featherweight division. He trains with Jim Wallhead. He has also taken part in some motorcycle races.
