Andrews Farm became a suburb in 1991. Before that, it was known as Smithfield West. The name "Andrews Farm" was chosen to honor the Andrews family. They were local farmers who lived in the area for a long time.

How the Suburb Grew
Originally, Andrews Farm was shaped like a rectangle. Its western edge was Andrews Road. In 2011, the suburb was extended further west. This change made its new western border the Northern Expressway. This was done to keep the nearby suburb of Macdonald Park from being split by the new freeway.

In 2006, about 3,336 people lived in Andrews Farm. By 2016, this number had more than doubled to 8,043 people!

Recently, two new housing developments have started in Andrews Farm. These are called Brookmont and St Andrews. Brookmont began selling land in late 2019. St Andrews started in early 2022.
