Andrius Pojavis is a singer and songwriter from Lithuania. He was born on November 25, 1983. In 2012, he was chosen to represent his country at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. This big music competition took place in Malmö, Sweden, in May 2013.

Andrius Pojavis: Early Music Career

Andrius Pojavis started singing when he was young. In high school, he played in a band called "No Hero." After finishing school, he moved to Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania. There, he studied history at the Lithuanian University of Educational Sciences.

Playing in Bands and Moving Abroad

While studying, Andrius played in several bands. One of them was "Hetero," which won the "EuroRock" competition in 2006. Later, he moved to Ireland for a year. During this time, he began writing his own songs as a solo artist.

First Album and Hit Song

In 2012, Andrius started recording his first album. He worked at the Massive Arts studio in Milan, Italy. His first song, "Traukiniai" (which means "Trains"), came out that same year. It became a top twenty hit in Lithuania. The music video for "Traukiniai" was even shown on national television. After this success, Andrius released his first album, titled Aštuoni (meaning "Eight"). It was very popular and received good reviews in Lithuania.

Andrius Pojavis represented Lithuania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2013. His song was called "Something." Eurovision is a huge international music competition. Countries from Europe and beyond send one song to compete each year.

Eurovision 2013 Performance

Andrius performed "Something" in the first semi-final on May 14, 2013. He earned 53 points and placed ninth, which allowed him to move on to the final. In the grand final, held on May 18, he finished twenty-second with 17 points. After the semi-final, Andrius joked that he hoped to place eighth in the final. This was a fun reference to his album, Aštuoni, which means "Eight."

Eurovision 2024 Attempt

Andrius Pojavis also tried to represent Lithuania again in 2024. He competed in Eurovizija.LT, which is Lithuania's national selection show for Eurovision. His song was "Sing Me a Hug." However, he did not make it to the final. He placed last in his semi-final on January 20, 2024.

Andrius Pojavis now lives in Valencia, Spain. He lives there with his wife and their two daughters.
