The 58th Eurovision Song Contest was a big music competition. It happened in Malmö, Sweden. The exciting semi-finals were held on May 14 and 16. The grand final took place on May 18, 2013. Petra Mede, a Swedish comedian, was the host for the show. Denmark proudly won the competition that year!

Eurovision Song Contest 2013: A Musical Journey
The Eurovision Song Contest is an international music event. Different countries from Europe (and a few outside) send a singer or group. They perform an original song live on television. People from all participating countries vote for their favorite songs. The country with the most points wins!
Semi-Finals: The Road to the Grand Final
Before the big final, countries compete in semi-finals. This helps narrow down the number of acts. Only the best songs move on to the final show.

- The Greek song "Alcohol Is Free" has an English phrase repeated.
- The group from Switzerland, originally called Heilsarmee, changed their name to Takasa. This was because Eurovision rules do not allow political or religious names.
The Grand Final: Who Won Eurovision 2013?
The final show featured the best songs from the semi-finals. Plus, some countries automatically qualify for the final. These are the "Big Five" (France, Germany, Italy, Spain, UK) and the host country (Sweden). Everyone voted to pick the winner!
