Loreen - "Euphoria"
2011 ← Eurovision Song Contest → 2013

The 57th annual Eurovision Song Contest took place in Baku, Azerbaijan, in May 2012. Azerbaijan hosted the event because they won the previous contest in 2011. Their singers, Ell & Nikki, won with their song "Running Scared" in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Forty-two countries decided to join the contest this year. This was one less than the 2011 contest, which had forty-three countries. Montenegro returned to the competition after not taking part since 2009. However, Armenia and Poland chose not to participate this time.

Sweden won the contest with its representative, Loreen. Her song "Euphoria" received 372 points. This put her ahead of Russia, Serbia, the host country Azerbaijan, and Albania.
