Nargiz Ilgar qizi Birk-Petersen (born August 7, 1976) is a lawyer, presenter, and model from Azerbaijan. She is most famous for co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She shared the stage with singer Eldar Gasimov and presenter Leyla Aliyeva.

Early Life and Education
Nargiz was born and grew up in Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan. When she was 16, she started studying law at Khazar University. While there, she worked as a reporter for the university's student TV station on its English-language news show.
In 1994, Nargiz moved to the United States to live with her father. To support herself, she worked as a model while studying. She earned a bachelor's degree in psychology from the University of Michigan.
After that, she continued her studies in law. She earned a J.D. degree, which is the main degree for becoming a lawyer in the U.S., from Wayne State University. She also earned a Master of Laws degree in international law from Georgetown University.
Career Highlights

Hosting the Eurovision Song Contest
In 2012, Nargiz was chosen to be one of the hosts for the Eurovision Song Contest. The Azerbaijani TV channel İctimai Television held a casting call to find the hosts, and she was selected.
She hosted three live shows on May 22, 24, and 26 with her co-hosts Eldar and Leyla. These shows were watched by more than 100 million people all over the world. This made her a well-known face internationally.
Work in Law and Communications
Before her Eurovision fame, Nargiz worked as a lawyer in Washington, D.C., and later in Moscow, Russia.
In 2012, she also took on an important role as the Head of Communications for Baku's bid to host the 2020 Summer Olympics. She helped present the city's plan to the Association of National Olympic Committees.
After Eurovision, Nargiz returned to her career in law. She has worked as a lawyer for major international companies. She is also the Head Counsel of the Dubai International Financial Centre.
Personal Life
Nargiz's mother, Maleyka Abbaszadeh, is the head of Azerbaijan's State Student Admission Commission, which manages university entrance exams.
Nargiz is married to Ulrik Birk-Petersen, a diplomat from Denmark. They met in Washington, D.C. Today, she lives in Dubai with her husband and their three children.
