Leyla Guliyeva (born Leyla Aliyeva on June 26, 1986) is a well-known television presenter from Azerbaijan. She is famous for co-hosting the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. She presented the show alongside Eldar Gasimov and Nargiz Birk-Petersen on May 22, 24, and 26, 2012.
Leyla Guliyeva's Career
Leyla Guliyeva studied music at the Baku Academy of Music. She earned a degree in choral directing, which means she learned how to lead groups of singers. She also has a master's degree in music.
Starting at İTV
In 2004, when Leyla was still in her first year of university, she started working at İTV. This is a television channel in Azerbaijan. She joined the department that handles music, arts, and entertainment programs.
Her Role in Eurovision
By 2007, Leyla began reporting on news about the Eurovision Song Contest. She quickly became an important member of İTV's team that organized Eurovision events.
In 2008, Azerbaijan participated in the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time. Leyla Aliyeva was chosen to be the spokesperson for her country. She announced Azerbaijan's first voting results during the contest held in Belgrade, Serbia.
Leyla also hosted the shows where Azerbaijan chose its singers for Eurovision. She did this in both 2011 and 2012, working alongside Husniyya Maharramova.
Personal Life
Leyla Guliyeva is married to Abbas Guliyev. He also works at İTV as a director. Leyla and Abbas have a daughter together.
