Early Life and Hometown
Loreen was born in Stockholm, Sweden, in 1983. Her parents were immigrants from Morocco. When she was young, her family moved to Västerås, which she considers her hometown. She spent most of her teenage years in a part of Västerås called Gryta.
Music Career Journey
Starting with Idol (2004–2010)
Loreen first became known to people in Sweden when she joined the TV show Idol 2004. She used the name Lorén Talhaoui during the show. Even though she didn't get enough public votes at first, the judges gave her a special chance to stay. She ended up finishing fourth in the competition.
After Idol, in 2005, Loreen released a song called "The Snake" with a group called Rob'n'Raz. She also worked as a TV presenter for a show called Lyssna. For a few years, she worked behind the scenes as a producer and director for Swedish reality TV shows.
Eurovision Success and Heal (2011–2013)
Loreen returned to the spotlight in 2011 when she entered Melodifestivalen 2011, which is Sweden's competition to choose its Eurovision song. Her song was "My Heart Is Refusing Me". It became a top 10 hit in Sweden.
In 2012, Loreen entered Melodifestivalen 2012 again with the song "Euphoria". This time, she won the competition and got to represent Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2012 in Baku, Azerbaijan. "Euphoria" was a huge hit and won Eurovision with a very high score of 372 points. It was a favorite to win even before the contest.
"Euphoria" also became a big hit in the United Kingdom, reaching number three on the charts. This was very unusual for a non-UK Eurovision song. Loreen released her first album, Heal, in October 2012. It quickly became a number one album in Sweden and sold very well. To promote her album, Loreen performed on many TV shows across Europe. In 2013, she released a new song called "We Got the Power".
New Music and Tours (2014–2015)
In 2014, Loreen joined the Art on Ice tour, which combined live music with amazing figure skating performances. She also took part in a TV series called Sápmi Sessions, where she worked with a Sami artist to create a new song.
Loreen went on her own Tour XIV in Europe in April 2014. She announced that new songs would be released for her next album. She also had a special Christmas show called En Euforisk Jul in Sweden. In 2015, Loreen released a new single called "Paper Light (Higher)". She also performed at the Eurovision Song Contest's Greatest Hits concert in London, celebrating 60 years of Eurovision.

Later in 2015, Loreen released another single, "I'm in It with You". She also released her first song in Swedish, "Under ytan" ("Under the Surface"), which was a cover of a popular Swedish song.
Return to Eurovision and Acting (2020–Present)
In 2020, Loreen performed a mix of her past Melodifestivalen songs. She also made a small appearance in the Netflix movie Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga. Later that year, she joined the Swedish TV show Så mycket bättre, where artists cover each other's songs.
Loreen also started acting! In 2021, she was in the Netflix film JJ+E, playing the main character's mother. In 2022, she released a new song called "Neon Lights".
In 2023, Loreen competed in Melodifestivalen 2023 for the fourth time with her song "Tattoo". She won the competition and once again represented Sweden at the Eurovision Song Contest 2023 in Liverpool. "Tattoo" won Eurovision with 583 points, giving Sweden its seventh win. This made Loreen the first woman to win the contest twice!
In 2023, Loreen was a guest judge on the Swedish TV show Drag Race Sverige. She also released a new song called "Is It Love". In 2024, she received the Government's Music Export Prize for helping to share a positive image of Sweden around the world. She also announced a new European tour for 2025 and released a new song called "Forever".
Human Rights Activism
Loreen is also known for her work in supporting human rights. During the Eurovision Song Contest in Azerbaijan in 2012, she met with local human rights activists. She spoke out about the importance of human rights.
In 2012, when she visited Belarus, she met with activists and expressed her support for political prisoners. She also signed a petition to ban the death penalty in the country.

She also became a patron of the World's Children's Prize, which works for children's rights. She has received the Crystal Globe award twice for her dedication to children's rights.
