Her Time at Mission Chinese Food

Angela helped create the menu and design the inside of the restaurant. She also helped with two other restaurants by Bowien in Manhattan: Mission Cantina and a new Mission Chinese Food location.

Angela used her Filipino background to create a "New American" menu at Mission Chinese Food. This style of cooking was not just about mixing Asian flavors. It was about creating a new kind of dining experience that blended different cultures.

At Mission Chinese Food, Angela was more than just the main chef. She helped connect the restaurant to the culture of the Lower East Side and Chinatown neighborhoods around it. She did this by working with different artists. Angela asked artists to create designs for the restaurant and for special events. She also chose musicians to play there and worked with friends to design a special clothing line for the restaurant.

In late 2017, Angela left Mission Chinese Food. She said her goals were different and bigger than what the restaurant offered.
