Angela McGlowan was born on March 2, 1970. She is an American political expert and a best-selling author. Angela is also the CEO of a company called Political Strategies & Insights (PSI). This company helps with government affairs and public relations. It has offices in Oxford, Mississippi, and Washington, D.C.. She often appears on Fox News to talk about politics.
In 1994, Angela McGlowan was crowned Miss District of Columbia USA. She wrote a book in 2007 called Bamboozled: How Americans Are Being Exploited by the .... In 2010, she ran for a seat in Congress in Mississippi. She finished third in the Republican primary election.
Early life and education
Angela McGlowan was born and grew up in Oxford, Mississippi. Her mother, Alberta, worked very hard to support her five children. Angela's father, James Thomas McGlowan, was a professor and a minister. He was also a civil rights worker. This means he worked to make sure all people had equal rights, no matter their race. He was the first principal of a school for African-American students during a time called segregation. Segregation was when Black and white people were kept separate by law. Her father passed away when she was 12 years old.
Angela went to Lafayette High School in Oxford. She then attended the University of Mississippi. There, she earned a degree in public administration in 1993. She studied criminal justice and political science. While at the university, she was part of the school's dance team, the Rebelettes. She was also named Miss Magnolia in 1993. Angela McGlowan has a mixed background, including African American, Native American, Scottish, and Irish family.
Career
Early work
Angela McGlowan started her career in government affairs. She worked for Steve Wynn's company, Mirage Resorts. She helped with lobbying efforts. Lobbying is when people try to influence lawmakers to support certain ideas. Her work helped build new hotels like the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada, and the Beau Rivage in Biloxi, Mississippi. She also created community programs for the resorts.
Later, McGlowan worked for the Better America Foundation. This group was started by Senator Bob Dole. It focused on helping communities become stronger. She also served as an aide to two members of Congress. She helped them with issues like diversity, welfare reform, and healthcare. She also helped with a re-election campaign in 1996.
From 1999 to 2005, McGlowan worked for News Corporation. This company is owned by Rupert Murdoch. She helped create programs to support diversity within the Fox Entertainment Group. She also worked as a lobbyist for News Corporation. She talked to Congress about laws that would help the company.
2005-present
In 2005, Angela McGlowan started her own company. It is called Political Strategies & Insights. This company helps with government affairs, political plans, and public relations. It has offices in Oxford, Mississippi, and Washington, D.C..
That same year, McGlowan became the host of Good Day Street Talk. This was a public affairs show in New York City. She also appeared on TV shows like To the Contrary and Politically Incorrect. She received an award in 2005 for being a journalist in New York City.
Her book, Bamboozled: How Americans Are Being Exploited by the ..., became a best-seller. It was listed among the top books by the Washington Post in April 2007.
In February 2010, McGlowan announced she would run for Congress. She wanted to represent Mississippi's 1st congressional district. She was one of many Black Republicans running for Congress that year. If she had won, she would have been one of the few African Americans elected as a Republican to the House of Representatives in many years.

Personal life
Angela McGlowan is married to Jack Keane. He is a four-star General and has received the Presidential Medal of Freedom.
