Angela Marie Scanlon, born on December 29, 1983, is a well-known Irish television presenter and broadcaster. She works for both RTÉ in Ireland and the BBC in the United Kingdom. Angela first became famous on Irish TV, hosting shows like the documentary Oi Ginger! in 2014.
Since 2016, she has been a reporter on the popular British show The One Show. She also filled in as a main presenter when Alex Jones was away. Angela took on a big role as a co-host of Robot Wars with Dara Ó Briain from 2016 to 2018. In 2023, she competed on Strictly Come Dancing, finishing in sixth place with her dance partner Carlos Gu.

Early Life and Education
Angela Scanlon grew up in Ratoath, a town in County Meath, Ireland. Her father worked in construction, and her mother worked in administration. Angela has three sisters. She went to school in Dunshaughlin, also in Meath.
After school, Angela studied business at Technological University Dublin. Once she finished her studies, she spent time traveling. She lived in New York for six months, where she worked in an Irish pub. She also explored Australia and Southeast Asia. When she returned to Ireland, Angela had plans to open her own fashion shop.

Before becoming a TV star, Angela Scanlon worked as a stylist and a journalist. She wrote for several magazines, including Tatler, Grazia, and Sunday Times Style. She also had a column called "Out of the Closet" in the Irish Independent's Weekend magazine.
In 2012, The Irish Times newspaper listed Angela as one of the "10 Irish Instagrammers You Need to Follow." The fashion magazine Vogue called her the "one to watch" in 2013. Early Television Work
Angela started her TV career working on fashion shows like Xposé and Off the Rails for RTÉ. She also appeared on Channel 4's Sunday Brunch. Later, she joined RTÉ's The Movie Show as a reporter and worked on The Love Clinic in 2012. In 2013 and 2014, she was a guest on The Saturday Night Show with host Brendan O'Connor.

From 2018 to 2021, Angela hosted her own show on BBC Radio 2 on Sunday mornings. Her last show was on April 25, 2021. She also covered for Sara Cox when Sara was filling in for Chris Evans on The Radio 2 Breakfast Show in 2018.
In 2019, Angela started presenting Your Home Made Perfect for BBC Two, a show about renovating homes. In 2022, she appeared on BBC1's game show The Wheel as a guest expert on redheads.
In 2023, Angela competed on the twenty-first series of Strictly Come Dancing. She was partnered with professional dancer Carlos Gu. In week 10, she finished in sixth place after dancing the Cha-cha-cha to Gloria Gaynor's "I Will Survive". The judges decided to save Layton Williams in the dance-off. Only head judge Shirley Ballas voted for Angela to stay. Angela said she was "really gutted" to leave the competition.
In April 2024, Angela began presenting the Saturday and Sunday morning shows on Virgin Radio UK. She took over from Graham Norton. As of 2024, Angela is also the face of television advertisements for Verisure.
Personal Life
Angela Scanlon married Roy Horgan in 2014. They have two daughters. The family lives in north London.
