Club Career Highlights

Angelo Peruzzi started his professional football journey with Roma in 1987. He later played for Hellas Verona on loan. In 1990, he faced a temporary suspension because of a substance found in a medicine he was taking. This was a difficult time for him.

Joining Juventus

In 1991, Peruzzi joined Juventus, which helped restart his career. He quickly became the main goalkeeper for the team. He stayed with Juventus until 1999. During this time, he won the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year award in 1997 and 1998.

Winning Trophies with Juventus

Peruzzi won many trophies with Juventus. He helped them win the Serie A title three times. He also won the Coppa Italia once and the Supercoppa Italiana twice. One of his biggest achievements was winning the UEFA Champions League in 1996. In that final, he saved two penalties in the shootout against Ajax. He also won the UEFA Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup. Many people thought he was the best goalkeeper in the world during this period.

Moving to Inter and Lazio

After leaving Juventus in 1999, Peruzzi played for Internazionale for one season. Even though he played well, the team didn't win any major trophies that year.

The next season, he moved to Lazio in 2000. He played over 200 games for Lazio. With Lazio, he won the Supercoppa Italiana in 2000 and the Coppa Italia in 2004. He continued to play at a very high level, often seen as one of the best Italian goalkeepers after Gianluigi Buffon.

Retirement from Football

Peruzzi decided to retire at the end of the 2006–07 season. He mentioned that injuries were making it hard for him to play. His last match was a special moment where he came on for a few minutes to say goodbye to the fans. In 2008, he was named the Serie A Goalkeeper of the Year for the third time, which was a great way to end his playing career.

International Career with Italy

Angelo Peruzzi played 31 times for the Italian national team over 11 years. He was part of the Italian squad at the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona.
