Every year, about 3.6 million pets visit their 450 hospitals and clinics. AniCura has around 11,000 employees. About 4,000 of these employees are veterinarians. Half of their veterinarians have special training in specific areas of animal medicine.
AniCura started in 2011. It was the first time many animal hospitals in the Nordic region joined together. Today, AniCura earns about 5.5 billion Swedish Kronor each year. Their main office is in Danderyd, Stockholm. Many of their hospitals focus on specific types of care. This includes areas like internal medicine (treating diseases inside the body), surgery (operations), orthopaedics (bone and joint problems), ophthalmology (eye care), neurology (brain and nerve issues), dental medicine (teeth), and dermatology (skin problems). AniCura's hospitals also help train other animal clinics.
They offer many services for pets. These include regular check-ups and advanced tests. They can do special procedures like endoscopy (looking inside the body with a camera) and magnetic resonance tomography (MRI scans). They also provide intensive care for very sick animals. Other services include rehabilitation and physiotherapy to help pets recover. They also give advice on pet food and sell special pet products.
In 2013, AniCura created a Scientific Council. This group helps make sure that AniCura uses the best and most proven methods for treating animals. In 2015, they started the AniCura Research Foundation. This foundation gives money to support new research in veterinary medicine.
