Anne Helm (born September 12, 1938) is a Canadian-born actress who is now retired. She also writes children's books under the name Annie Helm. She was mostly known for her guest roles on many American TV shows.
One of her most famous movie roles was playing Elvis Presley's love interest in the 1962 film Follow That Dream. Anne Helm also had a few regular roles, like playing Molly Pierce in the TV series Run for Your Life in the mid-1960s. Later, from 1971 to 1973, she played nurse Mary Briggs on the daily soap opera General Hospital.

Early Life and Training
Anne Helm started learning ballet when she was 12 years old. She studied with the National Ballet Guild of Canada. When she was 14, she continued her ballet training at the Metropolitan Opera Ballet School.
Acting Career
Anne Helm began performing on Broadway in the 1940s. She danced in shows like High Kickers (1941), Lady in the Dark (1943), and Mexican Hayride (1944). Later, she returned to Broadway as an actress in plays such as Cloud 7 (1958) and Edwin Booth (1958).
During the 1950s, while living in New York, she also worked as a model for teenage clothing. She appeared in commercials and danced at the famous Copacabana night club.
Moving to Hollywood
Anne Helm wanted to be an actress, which led her to Hollywood. She started making guest appearances on television series in the 1950s. Her first TV role was on The Phil Silvers Show, where she played a beauty pageant contestant.
In 1958, she had a main role in "The Sleeping Beauty" on Shirley Temple's Storybook. This role was even featured in Life magazine. She made her first movie appearance in 1960.
TV Show Appearances
Anne Helm appeared in many popular TV shows. In 1960, she was in "A Thief or Two" on The DuPont Show with June Allyson. She also appeared in two episodes of the Western series Rawhide in 1961 and 1962.
In 1961, she guest-starred in an episode of Alfred Hitchcock Presents called "The Changing Heart". She also appeared in the first season of Route 66 and in the crime drama The Brothers Brannagan. She played Glamis Barlow in the Perry Mason TV episode, "The Case of the Duplicate Daughter."
In 1962, she played Jennie Metcalf in "Girl with a Gun" on the series Death Valley Days. She also appeared in three different roles on the Western series Wagon Train between 1962 and 1963.
In 1963, she guest-starred in "Protective Custody" on the Western series Laramie. She also appeared in Gunsmoke as "Helena Dales" and "Trudy Trent."
Film Roles
Anne Helm became widely known for her role as Holly Jones in the 1962 film Follow That Dream, where she starred alongside Elvis Presley. She made several other films in the 1960s. These included The Iron Maiden (1962), The Interns (1962), Honeymoon Hotel (1964), The Unkissed Bride (1966), and the horror film Nightmare in Wax (1969).
Later TV Roles
In 1964, Anne Helm appeared as Nora Martin in an episode of The Fugitive. She also had the role of Amy in the ABC drama The Long, Hot Summer from 1965 to 1966.
She appeared in two episodes of the Western series The Big Valley. In 1967, she was in an episode of Twelve O'Clock High. She also appeared on The F.B.I. three times between 1966 and 1969.
In 1968, Helm appeared as Irene Park in the first season of Hawaii Five-O. She also appeared in an episode of Bonanza in 1968 and The Virginian in 1969.
From 1971 to 1973, Anne Helm was a regular cast member on the ABC soap opera General Hospital. Her last acting role was in 1986, in an episode of Steven Spielberg's TV series Amazing Stories called "The Doll".
Author
After her acting career ended in 1986, Anne Helm started writing children's books. She writes under the name Annie Helm. Her first book, The Sunshine Angel Book for Angel Workers of All Ages, was published in 1992. The next year, in 1993, she published The Little Angel Workbook for Children of all Ages. Her book Babystar was published in 2018.
Personal Life
Anne Helm has two children. She was married to author John Sherlock from 1968 to 1969, and they had a son named Peter Sherlock. Her second husband was actor Robert Viharo. They were married in 1971 and had a daughter, Serena Viharo, who also became an actress. Helm and Viharo divorced in 1979.
