Annemarie Jorritsma-Lebbink was born on June 1, 1950. She is a Dutch politician and businesswoman. She belongs to the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy (VVD). From November 2015 to July 2023, she was the leader of her party in the Senate. She was also a member of the Senate from June 2015 to July 2023.

Early Career and Education

Annemarie finished secondary school in 1967. She then went to a school for tourist training. She also studied to become a French teacher, but she did not finish that course. She took many courses about politics.

Serving in Local Government

Jorritsma started her political career in local government. She was a member of the Municipal Council of Bolsward. She served on this council from 1978 until 1988.

Member of Parliament

Annemarie Jorritsma became a Member of the House of Representatives in 1982. This is like being a member of parliament. She served from 1982 to 1986. She returned to the House of Representatives in 1986 and served until 1994. During this time, she was a spokesperson for spatial planning. She returned again in 1998 and 2002 for shorter periods.
