The Antelope Valley is a long valley in the United States. It is found near the border of Nevada and Utah. This valley stretches across parts of southeast Elko County and northeast White Pine County, Nevada. It is about 70 miles (113 kilometers) long.

Antelope Valley is an endorheic valley. This means that any water that flows into it stays inside. It does not flow out to the ocean. The valley curves around several mountain ranges. These include the Dolly Varden Mountains, Kinsley Mountains, and the Antelope Range.

The valley has two main parts, a northern section and a southern section. There is also a special area called "badlands" in the middle. Badlands are places where soft rock has been worn away by wind and water. This creates a very rugged and interesting landscape. These badlands are right on the Nevada/Utah border.

A large, two-part dry lake bed, called a playa, covers most of the southern valley. You can easily see this big dry lake from the nearby mountains.

Exploring Antelope Valley

Antelope Valley is shaped like a big arc. It points west and is about 70 miles long from north to south. The valley wraps around three mountain ranges. These are the Kinsley Mountains, the Antelope Range, and the Dolly Varden Mountains.

Valley Sections

The valley is divided into two main parts. One part stretches towards the northwest. The other part goes towards the southwest. The northern part of Antelope Valley borders the southwest side of Goshute Valley. The southern part of Antelope Valley connects with a very long valley called Spring Valley.

Getting There

You can reach Antelope Valley by car. U.S. Route 93 (Alternate) goes through the southern part of the northern valley. This road leads towards the Goshute Mountains.
