Antonella Mularoni's Early Life and Education
Antonella Mularoni studied law at the University of Bologna and graduated in 1986. After finishing her studies, she joined the Sammarinese Christian Democratic Party. She started in the youth section and later became part of the main committee.
She was very interested in making sure everyone had fair chances and in improving family policies. In 1986, the Grand and General Council (San Marino's parliament) approved a new family law, which was a big step.
Important Roles in Government
From 1986 to 1987, Antonella Mularoni worked at the State Secretariat for Finance. Then, from 1987 to 1990, she was in charge of the Office for Relations with Sammarinese Communities living abroad. During this time, she also worked with San Marino's representative to the Council of Europe.
In 1993, she helped start a new political group called the Popular Alliance of Sammarinese Democrats. She was elected to the Grand and General Council for the first time that year. She served in this role until 2001.
Judge at the European Court of Human Rights
In 2001, Antonella Mularoni was chosen to be a judge at the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR). This important court is located in Strasbourg, France. She served as a judge there until September 2008. After her, another judge from San Marino, Kristina Pardalos, took her place.

Becoming a Secretary of State
After her time as a judge, Antonella Mularoni returned to politics in San Marino. In 2008, she was elected to the Grand and General Council again. She became the Secretary for Foreign and Political Affairs, Telecommunications, and Transport. This meant she was in charge of San Marino's relationships with other countries, as well as communication and travel within San Marino.
Serving as Captain Regent
In the 2012 general election, her party, the Popular Alliance, joined with other parties to form a group called the San Marino Common Good. This group won enough votes to form the government.
On March 21, 2013, Antonella Mularoni was chosen to be a Captain Regent of San Marino. She shared this top leadership role with Denis Amici. They served together from April 1 to October 1, 2013.
Later, she was appointed as the Secretary for Territory, Environment, Agriculture, Telecommunications, International Economic Cooperation, Civil Protection, and Relations with the A.A.S.L.P. She held this position until August 2016.
In 2018, she was nominated to join the Governing Council of the Central Bank of San Marino. She served on this board until July 2023.
