Apple TV is a small device made by Apple Inc.. It lets you stream movies, TV shows, music, and photos to your TV. Apple also makes popular products like the iPhone, iPod, and iPad.
There have been several versions, or "generations," of the Apple TV. It helps you enjoy content from other Apple devices or from the internet on a bigger screen.
History of Apple TV
The Apple TV was first shown to the public on September 12, 2006. It was originally going to be called "iTV." However, a TV company in the United Kingdom named ITV already used that name. They told Apple they would sue if the name was used. So, Apple changed the name to "Apple TV" before it was officially released.
Sales of the first Apple TV began on March 21, 2007.
Updates and New Models
On January 15, 2008, Apple announced a free update for the Apple TV. This update made it possible to download media directly from the iTunes Store. Before this, you had to connect your Apple TV to a computer to get new content.
A new, smaller version of the Apple TV was announced on September 1, 2010. This model was more compact. On March 7, 2012, Apple released another version. It looked almost the same as the 2010 model but was faster.
On September 9, 2015, Apple introduced the 4th generation Apple TV. This version came with a new remote control that used Siri, Apple's voice assistant. It also included an App Store, which is part of its operating system called tvOS 9.0. This meant users could download and use apps directly on their TV.
