Have you ever wondered how boats travel up and down rivers where the water level changes? That's where a 'lock' comes in! Aqueduct Lock (No8) is one of these special water elevators. It's located on the River Lee Navigation, a busy waterway, and is found near the town of Turnford.

Where is Aqueduct Lock?
This interesting lock is located inside the beautiful River Lee Country Park. It's right next to the historic Old River Lea. You'll also find it near the large Holyfield Lake, which is about 180 acres big. This lake is part of the Lee Flood Relief Channel, which helps manage water levels.
What is an Aqueduct?
Right above the lock, there's a special bridge called an aqueduct. This isn't just any bridge! It carries the Small River Lea under the main River Lee Navigation. So, one river flows over another at this spot! The Small River Lea then joins up with the nearby Old River Lea.
