College Basketball at Kentucky
Archie Goodwin was the top scorer for the 2012–13 Kentucky Wildcats men's basketball team. He was named to the Freshman All-SEC team. This means he was one of the best first-year players in his college league.
He averaged 14.1 points per game in 33 games. He also averaged 4.6 rebounds, 2.7 assists, and 1.1 steals. These stats helped the Wildcats get a 21–12 record.
On November 21, he scored his highest points in a game with 28 points against Morehead State. A few days later, he almost got a "triple-double" against LIU-Brooklyn. A triple-double is when a player gets 10 or more in three different stats (like points, rebounds, and assists). Archie had 22 points, nine rebounds, and nine assists in that game.
After his first year, on April 1, 2013, Archie decided to enter the 2013 NBA draft. He was one of the youngest players to declare for the draft that year.

Professional Basketball Career
Phoenix Suns (2013–2016)
Starting in the NBA
On June 27, 2013, Archie Goodwin was picked by the Oklahoma City Thunder in the NBA draft. He was the 29th player chosen overall. His rights were then traded to the Golden State Warriors, and finally to the Phoenix Suns. This all happened on the same night of the draft!
On July 12, 2013, he signed his first NBA contract with the Suns. He then joined them for the 2013 NBA Summer League. In his first Summer League game, he scored 13 points.
Archie made his official NBA debut on October 30, 2013, against the Portland Trail Blazers. He didn't score in that game. But in his second game, he scored his first NBA points against the Utah Jazz. On November 19, 2013, he scored 16 points, which was his first time scoring 10 or more points in an NBA game.
Playing in the D-League
Sometimes, Archie was sent to play for the Bakersfield Jam in the NBA Development League (now called the G League). This league helps young players get more playing time and experience. He went back and forth between the Suns and the Jam several times.
In the Suns' last game of the 2013–14 season, Archie scored a career-high 29 points!
More Time with the Jam
During the 2014–15 season, Archie continued to play for the Bakersfield Jam often. He helped the Jam win a special tournament called the D-League Showcase championship. He was even named the MVP of that tournament! Again, he finished the regular NBA season strong, scoring 18 points in the Suns' last game.
A Big Shot for the Suns
At the start of the 2015–16 season, Archie didn't play much for the Suns. But in January, after another player got injured, Archie started getting more playing time.
On January 21, 2016, he scored 20 points in a game. Two days later, he scored even more, getting 24 points against the Atlanta Hawks. In that game, Archie made a game-winning three-pointer with less than a second left! This helped the Suns win 98–95 and ended their losing streak. He scored a new season-high for the third game in a row on January 26, with 26 points.
On February 2, he had 18 points and a career-high 12 assists. Later that month, he had a disagreement with a teammate during a game.
Archie left the Suns on October 24, 2016. The team's general manager said that Archie had asked to be traded.
New Orleans Pelicans (2016)
On November 7, 2016, Archie signed with the New Orleans Pelicans. He played in three games for them before the Pelicans decided to let him go on November 20.
Greensboro Swarm (2016–2017)
Archie then joined the Greensboro Swarm in the NBA Development League on November 30, 2016. He played well in his first game for them, scoring 18 points.
Brooklyn Nets (2017)
On March 15, 2017, Archie signed a short-term contract for 10 days with the Brooklyn Nets. He signed another 10-day contract, and then a contract for several years. In the Nets' last game of the season, Archie scored 20 points. However, he was released by the Nets on July 28, 2017.
Greensboro Swarm and Northern Arizona Suns (2017–2018)
Archie signed a training camp contract with the Portland Trail Blazers in September 2017. But he was released before the season started.
In the 2017–18 season, Archie played for both the Greensboro Swarm and the Northern Arizona Suns in the G League.
