Discover the Marès Lace Museum
The Marès Lace Museum (Catalan: Museu Marès de la Punta) is found in a very old building. This building used to be a hospital back in the 1600s! In 1983, it became a museum. It was created to show off the amazing lace collection of Frederic Marès.
What You'll See at the Lace Museum
This museum is all about lace making. It has many different collections of lace. Some famous collections include those from Tórtola Valencia, Vives-Nadal, and the Castells family. You can see how lace was made and used long ago.
One special room in the Marès Lace Museum shows items from the old Fidel Fita Municipal Museum. These pieces come from different times in the history of Arenys de Mar. The Mollfulleda Mineralogy Museum is in a historic building. In 1790, Josep Baralt started the very first nautical (sailing) school in Spain right here! Imagine learning to sail in this very spot.
