The Blois arrondissement was created in 1800. It became part of the Loir-et-Cher department when that department was first formed.
Geography of Blois Arrondissement
The Blois arrondissement is located in the central part of the Loir-et-Cher department. It is the second largest district in the department, covering about 2,239 square kilometers (864 square miles). However, it has the most people living in it, with 173,125 residents recorded in 2014.
It shares borders with several other areas. To the north, it borders the Eure-et-Loir department. To the northeast, it borders the Loiret department. The Romorantin-Lanthenay arrondissement is to its east and south. To the west, it borders the Indre-et-Loire department, and to the northwest, it borders the Vendôme arrondissement.
