A Look Back in Time
The Louhans arrondissement was first created a long time ago, on February 17, 1800. It was part of the new Saône-et-Loire département.
Later, in 1926, it was removed for a while. But don't worry, it came back! In 1942, it was made an arrondissement again.
Where is Louhans?
The Louhans arrondissement is in the eastern part of its département. It shares borders with other areas.
To the north and east, it touches the Jura area. To the southeast, it's next to the Ain area.
To the south, it borders the Mâcon arrondissement. To the west, it's next to the Chalon-sur-Saône arrondissement. A small part in the northwest also touches the Côte-d'Or area.

How it's Organized
Cantons
In France, cantons are like smaller local areas. After a big change in how cantons are set up, they don't always fit perfectly inside one arrondissement. This means a canton might include towns from different arrondissements.
The Louhans arrondissement has three cantons:
- Cuiseaux (only part of it)
- Louhans
- Pierre-de-Bresse
