How Ash Creek Started

The community of Ash Creek was started by a man named Col. Alfred Grey. He was an investor from England. Col. Grey owned the land where the community was built. He also owned a lot of other land in southwestern Minnesota.

To honor Col. Grey, some of the streets in Ash Creek were named after him. You can find streets called Colonel, Alfred, and Grey. This shows how important he was to the early days of the community.

The Post Office

Ash Creek also had its own post office for many years. It opened in 1871. The post office helped people send and receive mail. It was an important part of the community for a long time. However, it closed down in 1939.
