Ash Creek is a small place in Rock County, Minnesota, United States. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that is not officially a city or town. It gets its name from a nearby stream called Ash Creek. This stream flows into the Rock River.
Ash Creek is easy to find on a map. It is located about one mile east of U.S. Route 75. It is also six miles south of Interstate 90. The community is just three miles north of the border with Iowa.

How Ash Creek Started
The community of Ash Creek was started by a man named Col. Alfred Grey. He was an investor from England. Col. Grey owned the land where the community was built. He also owned a lot of other land in southwestern Minnesota.
Naming Streets
To honor Col. Grey, some of the streets in Ash Creek were named after him. You can find streets called Colonel, Alfred, and Grey. This shows how important he was to the early days of the community.
The Post Office
Ash Creek also had its own post office for many years. It opened in 1871. The post office helped people send and receive mail. It was an important part of the community for a long time. However, it closed down in 1939.
