History of Steen

Steen was officially planned out in 1888. It was named after two brothers, John P. Steen and Ole P. Steen. They were settlers from Norway who helped start the community.

A post office, where people could send and receive mail, operated in Steen for many years. It opened in 1888, the same year the city was founded. The post office served the community until it closed in 2011.
