Aster Glacier is a large river of ice, also known as a glacier, found in Antarctica. It is located in the Sentinel Range within the Ellsworth Mountains. This glacier flows down the east side of Craddock Massif. It moves between Elfring Peak and Willis Ridge, eventually joining the Thomas Glacier.

The glacier was named in 2006 by the Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names. It was named after Richard Aster. He is a professor of geophysics, which is the study of Earth's physical processes. Professor Aster has done important research in Antarctica. His work includes studying volcanoes like Mount Erebus and understanding how ice sheets behave.

Where is Aster Glacier?

Aster Glacier is in a very cold place! It's part of the Ellsworth Mountains in Ellsworth Land, which is a region of Antarctica. The Sentinel Range is a mountain chain where many glaciers, including Aster Glacier, are found.

Maps of the Area

Maps are super important for understanding places like Aster Glacier. They help scientists and explorers see where the glacier is located. Maps also show how it connects to other glaciers and mountains. This helps them study how glaciers change over time.
