Aten is a small, quiet community in Cedar County, Nebraska, United States. It's known as an unincorporated community, which means it doesn't have its own local government like a city or town. It's also a census-designated place, meaning the government counts its population for official records.

Where is Aten Located?

Aten is found in the northwestern part of Cedar County. It's right next to the Missouri River. This river also forms the border with the state of South Dakota to the north.

A road called Nebraska Highway 121 goes through Aten. If you drive east for about 2 miles (3.2 km), you'll reach U.S. Route 81. This spot is also about 2 miles (3.2 km) south of Yankton, South Dakota. If you drive west from Aten for about 2 miles (3.2 km), you'll find Gavins Point Dam. This dam holds back the Missouri River, creating a big lake called Lewis and Clark Lake.

Aten's History
