Auston Trusty (born August 12, 1998) is an American professional soccer player. He plays as a center-back or left-back (these are defensive positions) for the Scottish club Celtic. He also plays for the United States national team.
Trusty started his club career in the USL Championship with Bethlehem Steel. He then moved to Major League Soccer teams like the Philadelphia Union and the Colorado Rapids. Later, he signed with Premier League club Arsenal. He spent time on loan at Birmingham City in the EFL Championship. In 2023, Trusty joined Sheffield United and made his debut in the Premier League. He moved to Celtic in 2024. Trusty has also played for his country at different age levels before joining the senior national team in 2023.

Auston Trusty was born in Media, Pennsylvania. He started playing soccer with a local club called Nether United Soccer Club. He also played for his high school team at Penncrest High School. In 2011, he joined the youth team of the Philadelphia Union, a professional soccer club.

Starting with Bethlehem Steel
In 2016, Trusty signed an amateur contract with Bethlehem Steel. This team was linked to the Philadelphia Union. This special contract allowed him to still be able to play college soccer if he wanted to. He played his first game for Bethlehem Steel on April 10, 2016. He played 44 games for the team over two seasons.
Playing for Philadelphia Union
On August 10, 2016, Trusty decided to sign a professional contract with the Philadelphia Union. This meant he chose not to play college soccer. He made his first appearance for the Union on March 3, 2018. In his first season, he played every minute of every game! He also scored his first professional goal on September 15, 2018. He continued his strong play into the 2019 season.
Moving to Colorado Rapids
On November 20, 2019, Trusty was traded to the Colorado Rapids. He made his debut for the Rapids on July 17, 2020. After his first season, he signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2023.
Joining Arsenal and Loan Spells
On January 31, 2022, Trusty signed with the famous Premier League club Arsenal. However, he stayed on loan with the Colorado Rapids until July 2022. After that, he was immediately loaned to EFL Championship club Birmingham City for the 2022–23 season.
Time at Birmingham City
Trusty played his first competitive game in English football on July 30, 2022. He scored his first two goals for Birmingham City on October 8. He played almost every minute of every league match during the season. He played 44 games in total and scored four goals. Fans of Birmingham City even voted him their Player of the Season!
Playing for Sheffield United
On August 3, 2023, Trusty joined Sheffield United, a team that had just been promoted to the Premier League. He made his Premier League debut on September 16. He scored his first goal for Sheffield United in an EFL Cup game on August 13, 2024.
Joining Celtic
On August 30, 2024, Auston Trusty signed a five-year contract with Scottish Premiership club Celtic.

Youth National Teams
He played for the U17 team in the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile. He also played for the U20 squad in the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. He even scored a goal in a 6–0 win against New Zealand during that tournament.

Trusty was called up to the senior United States squad for the first time in December 2018. He made his official debut for the senior team on March 24, 2023. In that game, he played the whole match and even helped set up a goal in their 7–1 win.
