Avery is a small community in Calaveras County, California, in the United States. It's called a "census-designated place" (CDP), which means it's an area identified for population counting. In 2020, about 636 people lived there.
Avery is found along State Route 4. It's famous for the Avery Hotel Restaurant & Saloon. This hotel was built in 1853 and is the oldest hotel still open in the county! People used to call it the "Half Way House" because it was located between other towns like Murphys, Arnold, and Calaveras Big Trees State Park.
