History of the Race
The first Formula One race in Azerbaijan was actually the 2016 European Grand Prix, which used the same Baku City Circuit. One year later, in 2017, the event was renamed the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
The first Azerbaijan Grand Prix was held on June 25, 2017. It was one of five street circuit races that year. The other street races were in Singapore, Monaco, Australia, and Canada. Daniel Ricciardo from the Red Bull team won this exciting first race.
