The Azerbaijan Grand Prix (in the local language: Azərbaycan Qran Prisi) is a famous Formula One car race. It first happened in 2017. The race takes place on the Baku City Circuit. This is a street circuit, which means the race happens on the actual streets of Baku, the capital city of Azerbaijan.

The race is scheduled to be part of the Formula One calendar until at least 2026.

History of the Race

The first Formula One race in Azerbaijan was actually the 2016 European Grand Prix, which used the same Baku City Circuit. One year later, in 2017, the event was renamed the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.

The first Azerbaijan Grand Prix was held on June 25, 2017. It was one of five street circuit races that year. The other street races were in Singapore, Monaco, Australia, and Canada. Daniel Ricciardo from the Red Bull team won this exciting first race.
