About Bailey's Comets

This cartoon is all about exciting roller skating races! Different teams compete in a race around the world. They are looking for clues that will lead them to a huge million-dollar prize. But it's not easy! Other teams try to stop each other. Plus, there are often unexpected problems that get in the way of the racers.

Meet the Characters

Bailey's Comets Team

The main team, and the one everyone expects to win, is called Bailey's Comets. This group of teenagers includes:

  • Barnaby Bailey (voiced by Carl Esser) - He's the good-looking leader of the team. Barnaby usually makes the big decisions and sometimes has to take big risks.
  • Candy (voiced by Karen Smith) - A pretty blonde-haired girl. She often encourages Barnaby to take those necessary risks.
  • Sarge (voiced by Kathy Gori) - This red-haired girl is the team's cheerleader. She always keeps everyone motivated.
  • Wheelie (voiced by Jim Begg) - He's the team's mechanic. Wheelie is super creative and invents all sorts of strange gadgets for their roller skates.
  • Bunny (voiced by Sarah Kennedy) - Bunny is sweet and kind, but sometimes a little bit silly or forgetful.
  • Pudge (voiced by Frank Welker) - Pudge is a friendly guy, but he often gets into trouble. He's a bit bigger than the others but can still keep up! He loves bananas, which makes Wheelie call him "Banana Brain" when he messes up.

Other Skating Teams

Bailey's Comets always have to deal with other teams trying to win. These teams also cause trouble for each other. Here are some of the other skating teams:

  • The Texas Black Hats - These are outlaw cowboys who ride on roller-skating horses!
  • The Jekyll-Hydes - A team of English doctors who wear top hats. They can suddenly turn into scary green creatures at the worst times. Their leader is Henry (voiced by Don Messick).
  • The Ramblin' Rivets - This team has a professor (voiced by Daws Butler) and his robots: Scrappy, Boltsbucket, and Fenderbender. The robots have many cool tools to help them in the races.
  • The Duster Busters - A motorcycle gang that skates in a half-sitting way, like they're on bikes.
  • The Roller Coasters - A circus-themed team! It includes a ringmaster (voiced by Don Messick), Hercules the Strongman, Big Bertha the Fat Lady, a roller-skating lion, a clown who rides the lion, and an Indian Rubber Man.
  • The Stone Rollers - Three roller-skating cavemen and their roller-skating dinosaur (dinosaur sounds by Don Messick).
  • The Cosmic Rays - Four aliens who race inside a skating flying saucer.
  • The Gargantuan Giants - A giant football team! They are so big you only see their skates on screen. Their normal-sized coach (voiced by Don Messick) rides on one of their skates.
  • The Rockin' Rollers - A rock band that skates.
  • The Broomer Girls - A team of witches who use roller skates attached to their brooms. They are led by Auntie Hag and have a snickering roller-skating cat.
  • The Roller Bears - A team of five roller-skating bears, including a bear cub.
  • The Mystery Mob - These skaters are always hidden in a huge cloud of dust! You can only see their arms and legs moving. No one knows what they look like.
  • The Yo Ho-Ho's - A team of pirates led by a captain (voiced by Daws Butler). They use a roller-skate-equipped raft.
  • The Hairy Mountain Red Eyes - A team of hillbillies. One rides in a roller-skate-equipped wash bucket, and another carries a pig!

Race Commentators

Two commentators, Gabby (voiced by Frank Welker) and Dooter Roo (voiced by Daws Butler), follow the race from a helicopter. They usually just report on the race and rarely get involved.

Episodes

The show had 32 episodes in total. Each episode featured the teams racing to a new, exciting location around the world to find the next clue. For example, they raced to places like Carlsbad Caverns, Paris, France, and London. They faced many challenges, like dealing with smugglers, ghosts, or even a giant gorilla!
