Barren River Lake State Resort Park is a fun place to visit in Kentucky. It covers about 1,053-acre (426 ha) and stretches across parts of Barren County, Kentucky, Allen County, and Monroe County. The main attraction here is Barren River Lake. This huge lake isn't natural; it was created by building a 146-foot-high (45 m) dam. The dam was built by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers starting in 1960. The lake itself is about 10,000 acres (4,000 ha) big and has 141 miles (227 km) of shoreline. The park officially opened in 1965.

Fishing is a super popular activity here! Barren River Lake is home to many kinds of fish. In 1991, the biggest hybrid striped bass ever caught in Kentucky was found right here. It weighed over 20 pounds! You can also catch fish like crappie, smallmouth bass, white bass, and large channel catfish.
Boating and Water Sports
The lake is perfect for boating and water skiing. There are four marinas where you can launch your boat or rent one. It's a great way to enjoy the water and the beautiful scenery.
Hiking and Biking Trails
If you love to explore, the park has many trails for hiking and biking. The most popular trail is the 1-mile (1.6 km) Lewis Hill Trail. It's also known as the Connell Nature Trail and is a great way to see nature up close.
