List of Kentucky state parks facts for kids
Kentucky is home to 44 amazing state parks! Many people say they are some of the best parks in the whole country. These parks are super popular, and lots of visitors come back year after year. Kentucky has all sorts of different landscapes, so you can find many cool places to explore. Imagine mountain lakes, huge caves, and forests full of animals! All these fun places are close enough that you can visit them easily.
It's good to know that the Kentucky Horse Park is owned by Kentucky, but it's managed separately and isn't part of the state park system. Also, Breaks Interstate Park is special because it's shared and managed by both Kentucky and Virginia.

Kentucky's Historic State Sites
Many of Kentucky's parks are also important historic sites! Ten recreational parks and two resort parks have this special designation. Plus, there are eleven more historic sites managed by the Kentucky Department of Parks. These places help us learn about Kentucky's past.
