Bayfront MRT Station facts for kids
Bayfront MRT Station (CE1/DT16) is a very important MRT station in Singapore. The MRT is Singapore's fast public train system. Bayfront is a special kind of station called an interchange station. This means you can easily switch between two different train lines here: the Circle MRT Line and the Downtown MRT Line.
Bayfront MRT Station was also one of the first stations to have a cool feature called a cross-platform interchange. This means that when you get off one train, you can simply walk across the platform to catch a train on a different line, without needing to go up or down stairs! It makes changing trains super easy and fast.
When Did Bayfront Station Open?
Bayfront MRT Station opened in two main stages:
- 14 January 2012: The station first opened as part of the Circle Line extension.
- 22 December 2013: The Downtown Line section of the station opened, making it a full interchange station.
Which Trains Go Where?
Bayfront Station has different platforms for trains going in different directions on both the Circle Line and Downtown Line:
- Platform A: Trains on the Downtown Line heading towards Chinatown (DT19/NE4).
- Platform B: Trains on the Circle Line heading towards Marina Bay (CE2/NS27/TE20).
- Platform C: Trains on the Downtown Line heading towards Bukit Panjang (DT1/BP6).
- Platform D: Trains on the Circle Line heading towards Stadium (CC6) or HarbourFront (CC29/NE1).
