Beatty Creek is a stream located in the northwest part of British Columbia, Canada. It flows into the Tahltan River. This creek flows generally south for about 62 kilometers (38 miles). The Tahltan River then flows into the larger Stikine River.

Beatty Creek's watershed (the area of land that drains into it) is about 438 square kilometers (169 square miles). On average, about 5.73 cubic meters (202 cubic feet) of water flow through it each second. The creek's mouth is about 14 kilometers (9 miles) north of Telegraph Creek, British Columbia. It is also about 190 kilometers (118 miles) east of Juneau, Alaska. The land around Beatty Creek is mostly covered by shrubs and different types of forests.

Beatty Creek is in the traditional territory of the Tahltan people.

Geography of Beatty Creek

Beatty Creek starts high up on the slopes of Meszah Peak. This peak is the highest point in the Level Mountain Range. This range is part of a huge shield volcano called Level Mountain. The volcano is a very large and old volcanic area.

Beatty Creek flows south past Nalachaga Mountain. It then goes through a wide, forested valley. This valley was carved out by glaciers long ago. Many other streams also start near Beatty Creek's source. These include Kakuchuya Creek, Matsatu Creek, and the Little Tuya River. All these streams eventually join the Stikine River or the Taku River systems.

As Beatty Creek flows south, it collects water from many smaller streams. Some of these smaller streams also flow through deep valleys. Beatty Creek joins the Tahltan River about 8 kilometers (5 miles) downstream from where the Little Tahltan River joins. It is also about 18 kilometers (11 miles) upstream from where the Tahltan River meets the Stikine River.

Wildlife and Nature

Beatty Creek is an important place for fish. It is home to Chinook salmon and other types of salmon. These fish travel up the creek to lay their eggs.
