Beauraing is a city and a group of towns (called a municipality) in Belgium. It's located in the province of Namur, which is part of the Wallonia region. As of January 1, 2018, about 9,160 people lived in Beauraing. The area of the municipality is about 174.55 square kilometers. This means there are about 52 people living in each square kilometer.

Discovering Beauraing's Past
How Beauraing Became a Municipality
The modern municipality of Beauraing was officially created in 1977. It brought together several smaller towns and villages. These include Beauraing itself, along with Baronville, Dion, Felenne, Feschaux, Focant, Froidfontaine, Honnay, Javingue, Martouzin-Neuville, Pondrôme, Vonêche, Wancennes, Wiesme, and Winenne.
The Story of the Apparitions
Beauraing is a special place for many people, especially Catholics. This is because of events that happened between November 29, 1932, and January 3, 1933. During this time, five children and young adults reported seeing the Blessed Virgin Mary 33 times.
These events are known as the apparitions of Our Lady of Beauraing. She is also sometimes called the Virgin of the Golden Heart. The Catholic Church has officially recognized these apparitions as true. This makes Beauraing an important place for pilgrimages, where people travel for religious reasons.
When a Tornado Hit Beauraing
On June 17, 2021, a small tornado struck the town of Beauraing. This powerful storm caused damage to 92 houses. Several people were also injured during the event.
