About the Belcea Quartet
How They Started
The musicians of the Belcea Quartet first met in London. They were all students at the Royal College of Music. They learned a lot from other famous groups. They had lessons from the Chilingirian Quartet. Later, they also studied with the Alban Berg Quartet.
The quartet quickly became very good. They won many important prizes. One of these was the YCAT award.
Famous Performances
The Belcea Quartet soon became well-known around the world. In 2000, they played at the famous Carnegie Hall in New York City. In 2001, they performed at the Edinburgh International Festival.
From 2001 to 2006, they were the "quartet in residence" at the Wigmore Hall in London. This means they played there regularly. They have also performed in other famous places. These include the Vienna Musikverein and the Amsterdam Concertgebouw. They have also made many recordings of their music.
