Bell UH-1 Iroquois facts for kids
The UH-1 Iroquois helicopter, often called the Huey, is a famous aircraft made by Bell Helicopter. It first flew in 1956 and started being used in 1959. The Huey became very well-known during the Vietnam War.

The Huey was a very versatile helicopter, meaning it could do many different jobs. It was used to carry soldiers, move supplies and cargo, and provide air support. It also helped rescue lost soldiers or pilots. Some versions of the Huey were even armed to attack enemies.
One special version, called the UH-1V, was made just for medical missions. These helicopters helped transport injured people quickly to hospitals. After their military service, some Hueys were given to civilians. They were used for things like business travel, fighting forest fires, and by police departments.
Today, the UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter is mostly used instead of the Huey. However, the Huey is still in service with many countries around the world, showing how reliable and useful it has been for decades.
