Ben Gulabin is a mountain in Scotland, standing tall at 806 meters (about 2,644 feet). It's part of the Grampian Mountains, a large mountain range in the Scottish Highlands. You can find it near the A93 road, between the towns of Blairgowrie and Braemar, in a beautiful valley called Glen Shee.
Many people enjoy climbing Ben Gulabin because it's known as one of the easier 'Corbetts' to hike. This is because you start your climb from a high point, making the journey to the top shorter and less challenging.
What is a Corbett?
In Scotland, mountains are often grouped by their height. A 'Corbett' is a mountain that is between 2,500 feet (762 meters) and 3,000 feet (914 meters) tall. Ben Gulabin fits perfectly into this group!
It's also a 'Marilyn,' which is a hill or mountain of any height with a 'prominence' of at least 150 meters (about 492 feet). Prominence means how much a mountain rises from the lowest point connecting it to a higher peak.
Climbing Ben Gulabin
Ben Gulabin rises steeply from a small village called the Spittal of Glenshee. Because you can start your walk from a high point near the road, it's one of the simplest Corbetts to climb. This makes it a great choice for people who are new to mountain hiking or want a quicker adventure. The views from the top are amazing, letting you see across the beautiful Scottish landscape.
