Bencubbin is a small town in Western Australia. It's located in the north-eastern part of the Wheatbelt region. This town is about 275 kilometers (170 miles) north-east of Perth, the capital city.
The name "Bencubbin" comes from an Aboriginal word. It means "place of the snakes." This name is now used for a large rock formation north of the town. Another important rock nearby is Mount Marshall. It was named after Captain Marshall MacDermott. These rocks are big natural landmarks in the area.
People first explored this region in 1836. But the first permanent settlers didn't arrive until 1908. The town of Bencubbin was officially created in 1917. This happened after a railway line was planned to reach the area.
