Bennetts Bayou is a small stream that flows through two U.S. states: Arkansas and Missouri. It's like a natural water path connecting different areas.
Where Bennetts Bayou Starts and Flows
Bennetts Bayou begins in Howell County, Missouri. Its source is located just south of U.S. Route 160 and west of a place called Hocomo.
From there, the stream flows towards the southwest. It enters Ozark County, Missouri, and goes under Missouri Route 142 near Bakersfield.
The bayou then continues its journey south. It briefly crosses the very northwest corner of Fulton County, Arkansas. After that, it enters the northwest part of Baxter County, Arkansas.
Finally, Bennetts Bayou keeps flowing southwest. It empties into the northeast arm of Norfork Lake. This lake is located east of Gamaliel, Arkansas.
There's another stream nearby called the Bennetts River. It runs in a similar direction, just a bit to the southeast of Bennetts Bayou.
How Bennetts Bayou Got Its Name
Bennetts Bayou is named after a local family called the Bennett family. They lived in the area where the stream flows.
