Benedict Francis Woit (born January 7, 1928) was a Canadian ice hockey player. He was known as a defenceman in the National Hockey League (NHL) during the 1950s. A defenceman is a player whose main job is to stop the other team from scoring goals.

Playing Career Highlights
Benny Woit first showed his talent as a junior player. He played for teams like the Port Arthur Flyers and the St. Mike's Majors. He started his professional career with the Indianapolis Capitals in 1948.
In 1951, the Detroit Red Wings brought him up to play in the NHL. His strong defensive skills helped the Red Wings win the famous Stanley Cup three times! They won in 1952, 1954, and 1955. Winning the Stanley Cup is one of the biggest achievements in ice hockey.
After the 1954–55 season, Woit was traded to the Chicago Black Hawks. He later played in other leagues like the AHL and the EHL. He even became a successful head coach for the Clinton Comets.
