Joining the Band La Ley

In 1988, Beto Cuevas met Mauricio Clavería, the drummer for La Ley, during a trip to Concón, Chile. Mauricio invited Beto to join the band. La Ley had just lost two of its original members.

Beto quickly became the main singer for La Ley. His voice was featured on their first album, Desiertos. In the early years, Beto wrote the song lyrics. The band's founder, Andrés Bobe, wrote the music. La Ley became one of the most successful groups in Chile.

In 1994, Andrés Bobe sadly passed away in a motorcycle accident. After this, Beto Cuevas became the leader of La Ley. He took on a bigger role in creating the band's music. With Beto's help, the band grew even more popular across Latin America.

La Ley's music changed and developed under Beto's leadership. He even started helping to direct the band's music videos.

Grammy Award and MTV Unplugged

On February 21, 2001, La Ley was on a TV show in Chile. During the live show, they found out they had won a Grammy Award! They won for Best Alternative Rock Group. This was a huge moment for the band.

The next day, they performed at the Viña del Mar International Song Festival. This performance, along with their Grammy win, was a big turning point. Later in 2001, La Ley recorded a special show called La Ley MTV Unplugged. This album was a massive success. It helped make La Ley known as one of the most important Chilean bands ever.

Beto's Solo Journey

In 2005, Beto Cuevas and his bandmates from La Ley decided to take a break. Beto then started working on his own music projects. He sang a song called "Loud" with famous DJs Masters at Work. He also re-recorded "Mentira" for a movie soundtrack.
