Beverly McClellan (born July 6, 1969 – died October 30, 2018) was a talented American singer. She became well-known as a contestant on the first season of the American TV show The Voice. She made it all the way to the final four contestants.
Beverly started playing the piano when she was just four years old. As she grew up, she learned to play many other instruments. These included the guitar, trumpet, French horn, mandolin, ukulele, bass guitar, djembe, and various drums. She began singing at age 24. For 20 years, she performed in clubs and bars around Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 2004, she won the New York National Music Festival. She was named Best Overall Performer out of 500 contestants.

Beverly McClellan's Life Story
Beverly McClellan was born in Kingsport, Tennessee. She grew up in Gate City, Virginia. She went to South Fork High School. Later, she studied at Indian River Community College in Fort Pierce, Florida. Her grandmother was a Mohawk Native American. Beverly had tattoos to honor her grandmother's heritage.
Early Music Career
Beverly first played music with Tami Gordon in a duo called Uncommon Ground. After that, she worked with singer and guitarist Robyn Fear. They performed in the Florida Keys and south Florida. Years later, Beverly started her own band. She named it DJ's Daughter, after her mother. With this band, she recorded some songs and played many shows.
Later, she began performing as a solo artist. She recorded two more albums on her own. Then, she joined another band from Fort Lauderdale called Swoop. While she was recording music, her producer suggested she try out for The Voice. Before joining the show, Beverly had already recorded five independent albums. She was not signed to a major record label at that time. On The Voice, she was coached by famous singer Christina Aguilera. Beverly finished in 3rd or 4th place in the competition.

In 2012, Beverly recorded lead vocals for the song "John the Revelator." This song was on Steve Vai's album The Story of Light. She also toured with Steve Vai that same year.
Illness and Passing
Beverly McClellan was diagnosed with cancer in March 2018. She performed her last show on March 24, 2018. Beverly passed away on October 30, 2018, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
